Captain Len has been associated with Boatboy Marine Training since 2002. He has a 50 Ton Master’s License and has been boating for over 50 years. A New York native, Len started operating boats in exotic locations such as Sheepshead and Jamaica Bays and eventually moved on to Long Island waters. After relocating to Southern New Jersey Len has operated and trained on all types of boats in many New Jersey marinas and in New York, Delaware, Pennsylvania and Maryland.
In his prior life, Len protected the environment during his tenure at the USEPA and he developed and initiated the Chesapeake Bay Program and served as the first CBP Director for 5 years. He operated the R/V Lear, a 36ft Bertram research vessel, and conducted investigational programs in the Mid Atlantic waters. He also served as an Adjunct Professor of Environmental Engineering at Temple University and Stockton State College. Len had been involved with the space program. He was a member of the Lunar Lander team and was responsible for components of the electrical system specifically fuel cells and battery systems.
He is an avid boater and currently has a boat in Atlantic City and regularly fishes the Atlantic Ocean.
